This was started in plein air on Monhegan Island, which is 10 miles off the coast of Maine. This part of the island is called Lobster Cove.It is a place that takes the brunt of the ocean waves. There is a rusting shipwreck here called "The Sheridan", that I also did a painting of. I wanted to pay homage to the lives lost at sea and to paint a reminder of how harsh the sea can be to provide a living.
